One of the lock turnscrews (113434) broke during assembly by my petite 12 year old daughter. No matter what, we have styles and sizes for every taste. Lastly, the quality of the hardware is abysmal. Everything in a small space and at a height that your child can reach on their own making both play and cleaning easier. Secondly, it appears they have determined the bare minimum number of support fasteners such that it is very flimsy once assembled. This book display has two open shelves and a spacious drawer for books and toys. Only you know how many shelves it takes and how they should be organised to fulfill your storage needs. This results in the wood showing through such that you can definitely see the original blond coloring of the wood. With separate shelves, you can customize your storage solution. On the open shelves you can display and have things close at hand, and in the drawers there is room for things of all sizes. I assume the idea was that the interior receives less light so they could get away with saving 50 cents of paint and go with a lighter coat. This bookcase has lots of storage in a small space from baby years to teens. As a baseline Ill point out that most shelves for books are only 9' to 11' deep, which is great for books (with paperbacks 5-6' deep, most hardbacks 6-7' deep, and most RPG books up to 8.5' deep) but not so great for games: Standard square boxes are about 12', and I have games as big as 15' or 17' deep (not to mention coffins like the TI3 box.
It appears they have identified the minimal amount of paint that needs to be used to cover these things to the point that the interior surfaces of the bookcase are a lighter coat than the exterior sides. The assembly went very easy, however the quality left a lot to be desired.
